Biuret is a product generated by deamination and condensation reactions when the temperature is higher than the melting point of urea (150-170°C) during the production of urea. The chemical formula is NH2CONHCONH2.
The reaction formula is as follows: NH2CONH2--(heating)-->HNCO+NH3;HNCO+NH2CONH2→NH2CONHCONH2. During the granulation process of crystallized urea, this substance will also be generated, which is toxic to plants, so the urea is required to be condensed. The urea content should not exceed 1%. The biuret content of urea used for top dressing outside the roots should not exceed 0.5%.
use:
It is used in ruminant feed, the same as urea as a feed additive, but safer than urea. It is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate, growth hormone, foaming agent, paint making, and in analytical chemistry.
production method:
Mix urea, water and disodium hydrogen phosphate and heat to dissolve. Raise the temperature to 150-160°C and keep warm for 2 hours. After the reaction is completed, the reactants are poured into water and left overnight. The crystals are filtered out to obtain a crude product, which is recrystallized with dilute ammonia water to obtain the finished product biuret. In the production of urea, intermediate urine is used as raw material, and the finished product is obtained through high-temperature heat shrinkage, separation, and drying.
